Scholarships, Awards, and Industry Partnerships

Helping you achieve your dreams

We understand education can be expensive. We are pleased to offer a list of scholarships, awards and bursaries that can help offset those costs, helping to relieve some of the burden. Whether you are a senior in high school, already a post-secondary aviation student or pursuing your flight training on your own, there are scholarship and bursary opportunities available. 

Thank you to our incredible airline partners for offering scholarships and pathway programs for our students.

LIFT Scholarship

The LIFT Scholarship was created by WWFC to assist student pilots. Training to be a pilot is costly and most aviation students are not eligible for OSAP, or other financial support. Since the launch of the WWFC LIFT scholarship program, $76,000 has been presented to students in financial support.

Four $4,000 Scholarships will were awarded in 2023!

JAZZ Aviation Pathway Program

The Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism. 

Awarded to a full-time student for outstanding contributions to safety, leadership and professionalism. The Award consists of an opportunity to participate in the Jazz Aviation Pathway Program (Jazz APP) selection process. The award recipient will be selected by the program chair or designate in consultation with Jazz Aviation to ensure the criteria as outlined are respected. The Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism is offered to one student per program (Conestoga College, University of Waterloo, and WWFC's ATPL Program).

Awarded to a full-time student; who has self-identified as Aboriginal, a person with a disability, a visible minority or female, for outstanding contributions to safety, leadership and professionalism. The award recipient will be selected by the program chair or designate in consultation with Jazz Aviation to ensure the criteria as outlined are respected. Porter Star Award

Students are recognized for their academic achievements but also their contributions towards helping others achieve their academic and flying goals. Porter Star Awards are awarded to one Conestoga College student and one University of Waterloo student. Award recipients receive a bursary of up to $1,000.

Private Air Scholarship

Private Air offers a $500 cash award to a second year graduating Conestoga College aviation student.

Sunwing airlines

The Uplift – Sunwing Airlines Award, is presented  by Sunwing Airlines and The Office of Collegiate Engagement at Sunwing Airlines. Recipients of this award are recognized for exemplifying excellent interpersonal skills, positive work ethic and demonstrating a safety about all attitude in all areas of their academics and flight training. The recipients have maintained on-track performance in a rigorous and prestigious aviation flight training and academic program. By exemplifying these qualities throughout the training, recipients will demonstrate many skills and characteristics that align with Sunwing Airlines EPIC values, entrepreneurial, passionate, innovative and customer/people centric. 

Sunwing Airlines hopes to “uplift” each recipient and their next steps in their career by awarding a Scholarship valued at $1000.00 paired with an opportunity to participate in the Sunwing Cadet selection process for the graduating class.

Westjet Culture Award

The WestJet Culture Award is intended to acknowledge the student who throughout their training has displayed personal values most aligned with those of WestJet:

 

  • ACT LIKE AN OWNER, I take responsibility for my decisions and accountability for the outcomes.   
  • CARE FROM THE HEART, I do the right thing and do things right,  because I care.  
  • RISE TO THE CHALLENGE, I have the courage of a champion,  relentless in my pursuit.

The aviation industry is known for supporting the initiatives and accomplishments of student pilots and pilots looking to advance their training. Many organizations offer scholarships and bursaries towards these efforts.
