Founded in 1932, at Lexington field in North Waterloo, Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is deeply rooted in the Waterloo region. With its beginnings as a flying club, WWFC has continued to grow over the years, including being the driving force behind the development of the Waterloo Airport in its current location in 1950. WWFC managed the airport for over 20 years.

Local business man Norm Schneider, from JM Schneider Meats and Robert Dietrich, whose father owned Weston Bakery, were local flying enthusiasts and helped locate and found the first flying club in Kitchener-Waterloo at the corner of Bridge and Lexington.
