Take your drone operations career to the next level with Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre's Level 1 Complex RPAS Ground School. Designed for Advanced RPAS pilots preparing for complex and BVLOS operations, this comprehensive three-day instructor-led program provides the knowledge, practical insights, and confidence required to successfully complete the Transport Canada Level 1 Complex RPAS written examination.
Your Pathway to Advanced RPAS Operations
As the RPAS industry continues to evolve, operators require increasingly advanced knowledge and skills to safely conduct complex missions. Our Level 1 Complex Ground School has been developed to prepare pilots for the next generation of RPAS operations, including Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), advanced commercial applications, and complex operational environments.
Over three intensive days, students will receive in-depth instruction covering TC 15530 knowledge requirements:
- Canadian Aviation Regulations and advanced air law
- Navigation and airspace management
- Meteorology and environmental considerations
- Human factors and crew resource management
- Advanced RPAS systems and technical operations
- Risk assessment and operational planning
- BVLOS concepts and complex mission preparation

Cost: $1,750.00 + HST
Cancellation Policy: We require 14 days cancellation notice prior to your scheduled arrival. A transfer to another class is permitted. Otherwise, no refund will be issued.

2026 Course Dates:
Classes are held over three days in-person at WWFC, located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

Flight Review:
Additional cost—fuel charged at $0.75/km (return) from WWFC to the student-selected location
Alternatively, if the student completes the flight review at WWFC, it will be free within 20 km of the Waterloo Airport.
