Course Overview
The Basic RPAS course is ideal for beginners and recreational drone pilots. This certificate does not allow commercial drone operations, but it provides a strong foundation in safe and legal flying.
In this course, you will learn:
- Drone safety rules and pilot responsibilities
- Basic airspace awareness
- Weather and environmental considerations
- Flight planning and preparation
- Introductory hands‑on flight experience
Format:
- 1‑day, in‑person course
- Introductory flight practice
- Best‑practice operating procedures
- Transport Canada Basic exam preparation
2026 Course Dates:
Classes are held over one day, in-person at WWFC, located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.
- Saturday, April 25 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $199.00 + HST
Cancellation Policy: We require 14 days cancellation notice prior to your scheduled arrival. A transfer to another class is permitted. Otherwise, no refund will be issued.
