Line Crew Lead Hand

Reports to: Associate Manager
Department: Maintenance

Overview

Come join our busy flight training school, where aviation is our passion! We have grown since our beginning in 1932, from a flying club, to now having partnerships with Conestoga College and the University of Waterloo helping students follow their dreams of becoming commercial pilots.

The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is currently looking to fill a Lead Hand Line Crew position with an enthusiastic individual, who is driven and dependable.

This role is to provide superior service in care and handling of our aircraft fleet, from maneuvering aircraft on ramp, to assisting the pilot/crew in assuring their service needs are met timely and efficiently through communication with the front desk. Additionally, Line Crew ensures our physical property is visually appealing and comfortable to our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Checking/refilling fluid levels – fuel, oil
  • Maneuvering aircraft on ramp or in and out of hangars by hand or tug
  • Securing aircraft as required
  • Towing of aircraft and maintaining equipment (trucks, tugs, golf cart, mower, etc.)
  • Aircraft washing, waxing, grooming
  • Mobile refueling
  • General yard and building maintenance (mowing lawn, snow removal, cleaning building, stocking supplies)
  • Operate ground support equipment
  • Responsible for the part-time Line Crew staff (scheduling and supervision)
  • Consistently deliver exceptional customer service experience to all customers
  • Act as the general “handyman” for building and facilities
  • Assist other departments as required, including facility cleaning and other tasks as assigned
  • Other duties and tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary preferred
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent organization, communication, multitasking and time management skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure accuracy of work
  • Knowledge of aviation an asset (general aviation and flight training)
  • Team player in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to make decisions and implement in a safe, efficient manner
  • Follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; and maintain good working relationships with others
  • Own transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Stepping up/down on ladders, tugs and fuel trucks
  • Bending and stooping to pick up tow bars and other equipment, up to 75lbs
  • Stooping below wings to chock aircraft
  • Able to move a small single engine aircraft using a tow bar
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Good hand-eye coordination with good peripheral vision
  • Must be comfortable with working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions

Job Type

Full-time. Available days, evenings and weekends as the Flight Centre is open 5am-Midnight daily.

Flight Instructors

Reports to: Chief Flight Instructor
Department: Flight Training
Location: Breslau, ON

Overview

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is a dynamic flight training facility with more than 80 years of history, and one of the top manned aviation schools in Canada. We have multiple opportunities for Flight Instructors. We offer high quality instruction to students seeking a career in the aviation industry at various levels. Instructors not only teach in the aircraft, but also in the simulator and ground school classes. Instructors will be expected to teach lessons from PPL through to Multi-IFR, as per appropriate ratings and training, and to have some administrative responsibilities in addition to flight training.

Job Requirements

  • Canadian Flight Instructor Rating

Preference will be given to applicants with some, or many of the following:

  • Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Previous employment as a pilot
  • Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Mulit/IFR teaching experience
  • Aviation Degree/Diploma
