Director of Maintenance & PRM

Reports to: General Manager
Department: Maintenance
Location: Breslau, ON

Overview

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre is a busy flight school operating a fleet of 30 training aircraft and simulators. We are seeking a full time DOM/PRM to replace the director who is retiring after 30+ years of service.

The DOM reports to the General Manager and is a member of the senior management team. The Maintenance Director is responsible for ensuring the flight school fleet of 30 C 152, C172, PA-28R-201, Diamond DA40, and PA-44 are airworthy and available to support the needs of the training programs. The Maintenance Director is ultimately responsible for all airworthiness decisions and adherence to all Transport Canada regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Aircraft Maintenance: minimum six years’ experience
  • TC AME M1 licence (minimum)
  • Experience working on flight training aircraft
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance planning and budgeting
  • Demonstrated leadership in hiring, training and supervising maintenance staff
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and organize effectively
  • Post-secondary education preferred                        
  • Thorough knowledge of TC CARS and industry best practices
  • Experience with contract negotiation with suppliers
  • Experience with Avionics, Structures including composites desirable
  • Solid computer skills: MS office, maintenance management systems

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Maintain, repair and overhaul aircraft maintained by the AMO
  • Carries out all tasks per our MCM/MPM
  • Carries out additional work as directed
  • Has a keen attention to details in order to ensure high quality results
  • In-depth experience in aviation maintenance and people management will be critical factors in selection and compensation
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of urgency, demonstrates initiative and able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement. Assess current processes looking for areas to improve and work with department managers to build better process flow
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a fast paced and safety sensitive environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability and desire to work as a leader in a team-based environment
  • Previous leadership/supervisory and mentorship experience
  • Build a high-performance team to support the needs of the flight school and external clients
  • Experience in conflict resolution performance management

Hours & Working Conditions

WWFC operates 18 hours a day, 363 days a year

  • Ability to plan & work flexible schedules, including evenings weekends, and holidays
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Location at CYKF in Kitchener/Waterloo
  • Start date in January 2020

Flight Instructors

Reports to: Chief Flight Instructor
Department: Flight Training
Location: Breslau, ON

Overview

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is a dynamic flight training facility with more than 80 years of history, and one of the top manned aviation schools in Canada. We have multiple opportunities for Flight Instructors. We offer high quality instruction to students seeking a career in the aviation industry at various levels. Instructors not only teach in the aircraft, but also in the simulator and ground school classes. Instructors will be expected to teach lessons from PPL through to Multi-IFR, as per appropriate ratings and training, and to have some administrative responsibilities in addition to flight training.

Job Requirements

  • Canadian Flight Instructor Rating

Preference will be given to applicants with some, or many of the following:

  • Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Previous employment as a pilot
  • Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Mulit/IFR teaching experience
  • Aviation Degree/Diploma
